Laptop Battery Q & A
Q: How to I find the right battery/Ac Adapter for my laptop?
A:?
1) Navigate through the brands and model of your laptop model, or search by your laptop model at LaptopTraveller.com, and the right battery/adaptor will come up on top of the search results for you.
2) You can also check the inside of your laptop's battery compartment while the computer is off and unplugged. There you should find the battery's OEM (original manufactures) model number, along with some other information (like voltage and mAh of the battery). You may also find the part number of your laptop battery, located on the casing of the battery itself. When you reach product page, you can double check our OEM Part# compatibility list under product description. You should always use a battery with the same voltage as your original battery for best performance and avoid damages.
Q. There are several batteries listed as compatible with my laptop. Which one should I choose?
A. When LaptopTraveller list several batteries for a particular laptop model, they either vary in voltage or mAh (capacity). Look at the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) battery and check the voltage listed. Many manufacturers have different voltage batteries for the same model laptop depending on the CPU and video card used. Again, you should always use a battery with the same voltage as your original battery for best performance and avoid damages. As for battery capacity, it is a personal choice if you need the extra run time. While high capacity batteries (around 6000mAh to 8000mAh+) usually gave you 30% to 50% longer run-time, they weight more than regular capacity ones (around 2000mAh to 4400mAh). They will protrude out the (bottom/side) of the laptop and will cause your laptop to sit at an angle. You may not be able to connect to a docking station with the extended battery. Check each product detail before your purchase.?
Q. There are several AC adapters listed as compatible with my laptop. Which one should I choose?
A. When LaptopTraveller list several AC adapters, they are for different use. You will see different icon on the image indicating their use: for wall unit, for car, or for use in an airplane.? Pick the right item for your use.
Q. I purchase a laptop battery for my Sony laptop, but it keeps giving me error message. What Should I do?
A: It is our understanding that Sony installs software on some laptops to prevent the use of aftermarket batteries. Simply removing a program from the "Startup" typically fixes this issue.
Please go to start menu=> ALL programs=> Accessories=> choose "RUN" & type
in "msconfig" in the input box. A window will pop up. Choose the tab "Startup" and uncheck "ISBMgr". Restart your computer and the battery should be running as your original battery.?
Tips for taking care of your battery:
- Condition all laptop batteries regularly: fully discharging and then fully charging the battery. This should be done at least every few weeks and it will help you maintain the full capacity of the laptop battery. ?Leaving it plugged into the wall at all times will shorten the life of a battery.
- Proper storage: Your laptop battery should never be stored in an area that drops below 50??F (10??C) or rises above 95??F (35??C). ?Never leave your laptop battery in the car during hot summer days or cold winter when temperature can not be controlled. ?If you need to store your battery for 6 mon
