Replacement Battery Care Tips
Tips for charging a new replacement battery:
A new replacement battery usually comes in a discharged condition and you need to fully charge it before use. You may need to run the charge and discharge 2 to 3 times for maximum capacity of your battery before your initial use ( or the first time use after an extended storage period like 6 months).
You may notice that the first time you try to charge your battery, your computer may indicate that the charging is complete within just 10 to 15 minute. This is pretty normal with rechargeable battery. Simply remove the battery from the computer and repeat the charging procedure.
Battery care tips:
- Condition all laptop batteries regularly: fully discharging and then fully charging the battery. This should be done at least every few weeks and it will help you maintain the full capacity of the laptop battery. Leaving it plugged into the wall at all times will shorten the life of a battery.
- Proper storage: Your laptop battery should never be stored in an area that drops below 50 ºF (10 ºC) or rises above 95 ºF (35 ºC). Never leave your laptop battery in the car during hot summer days or cold winter when temperature can not be controlled. If you need to store your battery for 6 months for more, leave it at 50% charge and remove it from the computer. Your battery may lose the ability to charge fully when you store it with full capacity. Storing it in a fully discharged state may never be able to charge again at all.
Here are some tips to keep our laptop's battery going for as long as possible.
- Close the applications you are not using. It will only exhaust your battery.
- Tune down the volume of your laptop speaker, or put it into mute will save some energy.
- Turn off the auto-save feature of your unit if not necessary. Frequent saving may overwork your hard drive.
- Avoid multimedia activities (video, games). They drain laptop batteries super fast.
